Vacuum Brake Booster: Service and Repair






Power brake booster, replacing

Preparation




Remove the master cylinder. See Master cylinder, replacing Master Cylinder, Replacing.
Disconnect the connectors from the cable duct.

Removing the ABS unit




Remove the 3 screws for the mounting bracket.
Carefully press the ABS unit to one side.

Removing soundproofing panels





Remove:
- the screws (x 2)
- soundproofing panel.

Removing the power brake booster





Remove from under the dashboard:
- the retaining clip for the push rod for the power brake booster
- the four nuts securing the power brake booster to the firewall.

Remove from the engine compartment:
- the connectors
- the vacuum hose
- the power brake booster.

Transferring components





Transfer:
- the pedal position sensor. See: Pedal position sensor, replacing Pedal Position Sensor, Replacing
- the check valve
- the terminal for the check valve.

Installation

Installing the power brake booster

Note! For tightening torques, see Specifications Tightening Torque.

Install in the engine compartment:
- the connectors
- the vacuum hose
- the power brake booster.

Install under the dashboard:
- the 4 x M8 nuts for mounting in the power brake booster
- the retaining clip for the push rod for the power brake booster.

Installing the soundproofing panel

Install:
- the soundproofing panel
- the 2 x screws.

Installing the ABS unit
Carefully pull the ABS unit to the installation position.
Install the 3 x M6 screws for mounting in the bracket.

Finishing
Connect the connector on the cable duct.
Install the master cylinder and bleed the brake system. See: Master cylinder, replacing Master Cylinder, Replacing.
