Thermostat: Service and Repair






Thermostat

Note! Some variation in the illustrations may occur, but the essential information is always correct.

Preparatory work

Draining coolant
Lift up the car and remove the protective cover under the engine. Open the nipple on the engine.
Drain the coolant into a drain pan. Refer to: Close the nipple.
Install the protective cover under the engine. Lower the car.

Removing components
Remove the air cleaner (ACL) module. See: Air filter module Service and Repair.

Removal

Removal of thermostat housing




Unplug the connector from the temperature sensor.

Remove:
- inlet and outlet hose from the thermostat housing
Note! Collect any coolant using paper or similar.

- the thermostat housing.

Transferring temperature sensor
Pull the lock clip straight out and lift out the temperature sensor. Install the sensor with new seal ring.

Installation

Installing the thermostat housing




Clean the gasket surface for the thermostat housing against the engine block.

Install:
- new gasket
- thermostat housing
- screws and tighten
- inlet and outlet hoses. Tighten the hose clamps. Plug in the connector for the temperature sensor.

Finishing

Installing components
Install the air filter module according to Air filter module Service and Repair.

Check
Fill with coolant. Refer to: Service and Repair
Test-run the engine and check for any leaks.
