Description of Component / Functions Activation
Description of component / functions activation
Hint: Not all the components/functions described need to be implemented in the control module. This varies between different systems and markets.
Parameters, value
Throttle angle, actual value (%)
Measurement range 0 -100 %.
The control module derives the value from the throttle position (TP) sensor, potentiometer 1. The value indicates the throttle opening.
If a fault is detected in the throttle position (TP) sensor, potentiometer 1 by the engine control module (ECM), the value from the throttle position (TP) sensor, potentiometer 2 will be used to represent the throttle angle. This presumes that the function of throttle position (TP) sensor, potentiometer 2 is OK.
0 % = throttle shut.
100 % = throttle fully open.
Throttle position, circuit 1 (%)
Measurement range -3 - +130 %.
Normal value 0 - 100 %.
There is an electrical fault if the displayed value is outside the measurement range.
The value must increase with increased throttle angle.
Approximately 0 % = throttle closed.
Approximately 100 % = wide open throttle (WOT).
Throttle position, circuit 2 (%)
Measurement range -4 - +140 %.
Normal value 0 - 100 %.
There is an electrical fault if the displayed value is outside the measurement range.
The value must increase with increased throttle angle.
Approximately 0 % = throttle closed.
Approximately 100 % = wide open throttle (WOT).
Component / function
Injectors 1-5
Injectors 1-5 open and close approximately 6 times per second for 30 seconds.
The injector clicks.
The engine must be switched off.
Air conditioning (A/C) relay
Activated using the start button and stopped using the stop button. Air conditioning A/C must be requested from the control panel.
The air conditioning A/C magnetic clutch clicks.
Engine cooling fan (FC) low speed/high speed
The fan is activated using the start button and stopped using the stop button.
The fan can be heard.
MIL lamp
Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL). The engine must be running and the lamp out before activation. The lamp lights when the start button is pressed and goes out when the stop button is pressed.
Leak diagnostic unit, valve
Certain markets only.
A clicking noise is heard from the valve in the leak diagnostic unit at activation.
Canister purge (CP) valve
The evaporative emission system (EVAP) valve opens and closes 5 times per second. Activated using the start button and stopped using the stop button.
The EVAP valve clicks.
Control module cooling fan
The cooling fan for the control modules starts.
The fan buzzes.
Electronic throttle module (ETM) 50/75/100%
The shutter in the electronic throttle module (ETM) opens.
The throttle opens to different positions depending on which activation is selected (50, 75 or 100 %).
Read off "Throttle angle, actual value", "Throttle position, circuit 1" or "Throttle position, circuit 2" to check the function.
The engine must be switched off at activation.
Fuel pump
The engine control module (ECM) controls the fuel pump (FP) relay at 50Hz. The fuel pump is activated using the start button and stopped using the stop button.
Fuel pump noise is heard from the fuel tank.
The engine must be switched off.
