Removal
Measure the position of the wheel spindle/spring strut. See: Wheel knuckle / spring strut, calibrating Service and Repair.
Leave the lower screw in place.

Use: 999 7251 Press tool 999 7251 Press Tool and 951 2923 Hydraulic hole cylinder 951 2923 Hydraulic Hole Cylinder.
Use: 999 7162 Claw 999 7162 Claw with: 999 7163 Extension 999 7163 Extension and: 999 2709 SLEDGE 999 2709 Sledge and remove the drive shaft.
Note! Pull the constant velocity joint, not the drive shaft joints, when removing the drive shaft. There are no axial stops.
Note! Do not damage the drive shaft seal.
Installation
Note! For tightening torques, see: Tightening Torque
Lubricate the drive shaft sealing surface. Use oil. See: Specifications
Press the drive shaft into the transmission. Check that the snap ring is in the groove in the transmission by pulling the constant velocity joint.
Use new screws and nuts.
Adjust the position of the wheel spindle/spring strut. See: Wheel knuckle / spring strut, calibrating Service and Repair.
Tighten, see: Tightening torque [1][2]Specifications.
