High mounted stop lamp

Removal
Removing the stop lamp
Note! The front windshield does not need to be removed when replacing the brake light.
Lower the headlining. See: Headlining with sun roof Service and Repair.
Disconnect the connector.
Mark up the location of the stop lamp.
Note! The brake light is bonded to the headlining at four points.
Caution! The brake light must be removed from the headlining. This must be done carefully as the headlining is fragile.
Use a weatherstrip tool to separate as close to the stop lamp bonding as possible. This is to avoid damaging the headlining.
Function test
Connect the stop lamp connector.
Test the function.
Disconnect the connector.
Installation
Installing the stop lamp
Install the stop lamp using hot adhesive. Secure as illustrated (1).
Note! Work with hot adhesive outside the vehicle.
Position the stop lamp on the headlining, with the center hole (2) opposite the hole in the headlining.
Note! To avoid squeaking it is important that the brake light is correctly positioned on the headlining.
Press the stop lamp into place on the headlining.
