Brake Rotor/Disc: Service and Repair






Front brake disc

Preparatory work






Remove:
- the wheel
- the brake pads. See: Brake pads, front Brake Pads Front, Replacing
- the 2 screws
- the mounting bracket.

Removing the brake disc






Remove:
- the retaining clip
- the brake disc.

Cleaning and checking

Cleaning and checking brake discs

Note! Cleaning is important to prevent lateral run out at the brake disc.

Clean the hub flange before installing the new brake disc.
Check the hub. If it is damaged, measure the lateral runout. See: Wheel hub front, checking Wheel Hub Front, Checking.

Installing the brake disc


Note! For tightening torques, see: Tightening torque Tightening Torque.

Caution! Be careful when handling the new brake disc. Careless handling can cause damage to the brake disc (out-of-true).

Install:
- the brake disc
- the retaining clip.

Finishing


Install:
- the mounting bracket
- the 2 screws. Tighten. See: Tightening torque Tightening Torque
- the new brake pads. See: Brake pads, front Brake Pads Front, Replacing
- the wheel. See: Wheels Service and Repair.

Note! Use new brake pads.

Depress the brake pedal a few times. Check the fluid level in the brake fluid reservoir. Top up if necessary.
