Radiator Cooling Fan: Service and Repair






Engine cooling fan (FC), replacing

Note! The illustrations in this service information are used for different model years and/or models. Some variation may occur. However, the essential information in the illustrations is always correct.

Preparatory work

Removing components
Disconnect the battery negative lead. See: Battery, disconnecting Battery Disconnecting.

Removal

Removing the air cleaner (ACL) inlet pipe





Remove:
- the bolts, x2
- the air cleaner (ACL) inlet pipe.

Removing the skidplate




Remove the bolts, x6.





Note! There is a guide sleeve on the upper mounting for the plate. This must be lifted slightly so that the panel can be slid forward.

Lift up and move the protective plate forward.
Remove the protective plate.

Lowering the air conditioning aggregate





Note! Do not unscrew the bolts completely.

Slacken off the mounting screws so that the air conditioning aggregate is lowered approximately 20 mm.

Removing the engine cooling fan (FC)





Remove:
- servo hose
- connector
- the hose from the expansion tank.




- 4 x screws
- dip stick
- engine cover front
- engine cooling fan.

Installation

Installing the engine cooling fan (FC)
For tightening torques, see Tightening torque Tightening Torque

Note! Ensure that no hoses are trapped when installing the engine cooling fan (FC).





Hint: Smooth off the corner of the engine cooling fan cover to facilitate installation.

Install:
- the engine cooling fan (FC)
- the 4 x M6 screws
- the servo hose
- the connector
- the hose from the expansion tank
- the air cleaner intake pipe
- the 2 M6 screws.

Installing the radiator unit
Tighten the 2 x M8 mounting screws.

Finishing

Installing the skid plate
Move the protective plate up in the bumper cover.
Press forward until the mounting brackets enter the subframe.
Fit the bolts, M10 x6.
Install the battery negative lead. See: Battery, disconnecting Battery Disconnecting
