Airbag passenger (SRS), replacing

Preparatory work
Removing the battery lead and important information
Ignition off.
Disconnect the battery negative lead. See: Battery, disconnecting Battery Disconnecting.
Warning! For information about the handling and storage of pyrotechnical SRS components, see: Handling non-deployed SRS-components Discarding Pyrotechnic Components.
Note! Replace the decals for the safety equipment. See: (North America) or: (rest of the world).
Warning! Under no circumstances use an ohmmeter or other live measuring instrument to take readings on a disconnected, non-deployed
pyrotechnical SRS component. There is a risk of the seat belt tensioner deploying.
Warning! Pyrotechnical SRS components must never be taken apart, repaired or transferred to another vehicle.
Removal
Removing the passenger side airbag (SRS)
Remove:
- the glove compartment. See: Glove compartment, replacing Service and Repair
- the end cover on the passenger side.
Slacken off both the outer screws for the dashboard.
Disconnect the connector for the SRS passenger airbag.
Note! The connector is between the screws for the lower mounting for the airbag.
Disconnect the lower mounting for the airbag.
Remove the 2 screws.
Remove the 6 nuts.
Angle and lift out the airbag.
Hint: Carefully pull the corner of the dashboard on the passenger side to make it easier to lift the airbag out.
Installation
Installing the passenger side airbag (SRS)
Install:
- the airbag
- the 6 nuts. Tighten
- airbag, lower mounting
- the 2 M6 screws. Tighten
- the connector to the airbag
- the outer screws for the dashboard
- the 2 M6 screws. Tighten
- the end cover on the passenger side
- the glove compartment. See: Glove compartment, replacing Service and Repair
- the battery lead.
Carry out an inspection. See: Supplementary restraint system (SRS), inspection Supplementary Restraint System (SRS), Inspection.
