Dashboard/Steering Hanger Beam Removal/Installation

Special Tools Required

- KTC trim tool set SOJATP2014*
*Available through the Acura Tool and Equipment Program.

SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations Locations and the precautions and procedures Service and Repair before doing repairs or service.

NOTE:

- Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when prying components.

- Have an assistant help you when removing and installing the dashboard.

- Take care not to scratch the dashboard/steering hanger beam, body and other related parts.

- Put on gloves to protect your hands.

1. Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure, Procedures then wait at least 3 minutes before beginning work.

2. Remove these items:
- Driver's dashboard undercover Driver's Dashboard Undercover Removal/Installation

- Passenger's dashboard undercover Passenger's Dashboard Undercover Removal/Installation

- Center console Center Console Removal/Installation

- Utility pocket housing Utility Pocket Housing Removal/Installation

- Instrument fascia Instrument Fascia Removal/Installation

- Driver's dashboard lower cover Driver's Dashboard Lower Cover Removal/Installation

- Glove box Glove Box Removal/Installation

- Kick panels, both sides Interior Trim Removal/Installation - Front Door Sill Area

- A-pillar trim, both sides Interior Trim Removal/Installation - A-Pillar Trim

- Steering column Steering Column Removal and Installation

3. Disconnect the hood opener cable. Hood Opener Cable Replacement

Driver's side

4. From under the dash, disconnect the keyless access control unit connectors (A), the brake switch connector (B), the left side wire harness connectors (C), the engine compartment wire harness connectors (D), and disconnect the dashboard wire harness connectors (E) and the combination subwire harness connector (F) from the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box (G), then release the wire harness clips.
NOTE: Lift the white wire harness connector locks (H) before trying to remove the connectors from the fuse box.

5. Disconnect and detach the left side wire harness connectors (A, B), and release the wire harness clips (C), then remove the rear vent duct A (D). Disconnect the left side wire harness connectors (E), the dashboard wire harness connector (F) from the SRS control unit, and the yaw rate-lateral acceleration sensor connector (G).Using a TORX T30 bit, remove the ground bolt (H).






Center (passenger's side)

6. From under the dash, release the clip, and pull the carpet (A) back. Disconnect and detach PCM connectors (B), and the engine wire harness connector (C).






Passenger's side

7. From under the dash, disconnect the passenger's door wire harness connector (A), A/C subwire harness connectors (B), the right side wire harness connectors (C), the engine compartment wire harness connector (D), and disconnect the dashboard wire harness connectors (E) from the passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box (F).

8. Detach all of the harness and connector clips.






9. Open the passenger's door, and gently pull out along the rear edge to release the hooks (A), then remove the passenger's dashboard side lid (B).






10. Open the driver's door, and remove the caps (A), then remove the bolts (B, C), loosen the two bolts (D), and lift up on the dashboard (E) to release it from the guide pins (F, G).
NOTE: Before removing the dashboard/steering hanger beam, make sure all the harnesses have been disconnected.

11. Carefully remove the dashboard/steering hanger beam through the front door opening.
NOTE: Lay the dashboard on its front or back. Do not rest it on the lower console opening or you may damage it.






12. Remove the bolts, then remove the center bracket (A).

13. Install the dashboard/steering hanger beam in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- Reinstall the center bracket on the center frame, and slightly tighten the mounting bolts. Reinstall the dashboard on the body. After tightening the dashboard mounting bolts and nut, tighten the center bracket mounting bolts and center frame mounting bolts.

- Make sure the dashboard/steering hanger beam fits onto the guide pins correctly.

- Apply liquid thread lock to the bolts securing the center bracket and the dashboard before reinstallation.

- Before tightening the bolts, make sure the wire harnesses are not pinched.

- Make sure the connectors are plugged in properly.

- Do the battery terminal reconnection procedure. Procedures

- If necessary, adjust the shift cable. Adjustments

- Check for any DTCs that may have been set during repairs, and clear them.

- Reset the power window control unit. Testing and Inspection

- Do the steering column position memorization. Programming and Relearning
