NOTE: Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, review SRS Precautions and Procedures, Technician Safety Information General Troubleshooting Information, Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview and Battery Terminal Disconnection and Reconnection. Procedures
1. Clear the DTC memory. Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview
2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), then buckle and unbuckle the driver's seat belt several times.
3. Read the DTC. Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview
Is DTC 61-1x indicated?
YES - Go to step 4.
NO - Intermittent failure, system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures. Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview If another DTC is indicated, troubleshoot the DTC.
4. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
5. Disconnect the rear harness 3P connector from the driver's seat belt buckle switch 3P connector (A).
6. Buckle the driver's seat belt.
Measure the resistance between driver's seat belt buckle switch 3P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 3. There should be less than 1.0 Ohms.
Measure the resistance between same connector terminals No. 1 and No. 2. There should be an open circuit or at least 1 MOhms.
Are the resistances as specified?
YES - Go to step 7.
NO - Replace the driver's seat belt buckle assembly, Service and Repair then clear the DTC.
7. Unbuckle the driver's seat belt.
Measure the resistance between driver's seat belt buckle switch 3P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 2. There should be less than 1.0 Ohms.
Measure the resistance between same connector terminals No. 1 and No. 3. There should be an open circuit or at least 1 MOhms.
Are the resistances as specified?
YES - Go to step 8.
NO - Replace the driver's seat belt buckle assembly, Service and Repair then clear the DTC.
8. Measure the resistance between rear harness 3P connector terminal No. 1 and body ground. There should be less than 1.0 Ohms.
Is the resistance as specified?
YES - Go to step 9.
NO - Open in the driver's seat wire harness or floor wire harness, or poor ground connection at G601. If G601 is OK, replace the faulty harness, then clear the DTC.
9. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, then wait at least 3 minutes.
10. Disconnect both seat belt tensioner 2P connectors from the SRS main harness. Technician Safety Information
11. Disconnect SRS unit connector B (28P) from the SRS unit. Technician Safety Information
12. Measure the resistance between SRS unit connector B (28P) terminal No. 12 and rear harness 3P connector terminal No. 3. There should be less than 1.0 Ohms.
Is the resistance as specified?
YES - Go to step 13.
NO - Open in the rear harness or SRS main harness; replace the faulty harness, then clear the DTC.
13. Measure the resistance between SRS unit connector B (28P) terminal No. 11 and rear harness 3P connector terminal No. 2. There should be less than 1.0 Ohms.
Is the resistance as specified?
YES - Faulty SRS unit; replace the SRS unit. Service and Repair
NO - Open in the rear harness or SRS main harness; replace the faulty harness, then clear the DTC.
