Front Seat Belt Replacement
Seat Belt
SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations, '00-05 models, '06-09 models Locations and the precautions and procedures Technician Safety Information before doing repairs or service.
NOTE:
- Check the front seat belts for damage, Testing and Inspection and replace then if necessary.
- If replacing the front seat belt after deployment, refer to component replacement/inspection after deployment for a complete list of other parts that must also be replaced.
1. Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure, Procedures then wait at least 3 minutes before beginning work.
2. Remove these items:
- Seat, '00-05 models, '06-09 models Removal and Replacement
- Rear side trim Interior Trim Removal/Installation - Seat Side Area
- Spare tire cover Service and Repair and spare tire (except CR model)
- Rear tray/roll bar and upper trim assembly (except CR model) Interior Trim Removal/Installation - Rear Tray Area (Except CR model)
- Rear cover/roll bar and upper trim assembly (CR model) Interior Trim Removal/Installation - Rear Tray Area (CR model)
3. Remove the seat belt and retractor in numbered sequence.
4. Install the belt in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- Check that the retractor locking mechanism functions. Testing and Inspection
- Follow the Anchor Bolt Installation diagrams carefully when assembling the washers, the collars, and the bushings on the upper and lower anchor bolts.
- Apply medium strength liquid thread lock to the anchor bolts and the seat mounting bolts before reinstallation.
- Before installing the anchor bolts, make sure there are no twists or kinks in the seat belt.
- Make sure the seat belt tensioner connector is plugged in properly.
- Do the battery terminal reconnection procedure. Procedures
'06-09 models
Seat Belt Buckle
1. Remove the seat, '00-05 models, '06-09 models. Removal and Replacement
NOTE: To get to the seat belt switch connector, lift the seat cushion away from the inner seat track.
2. Remove the seat belt buckle in the numbered sequence.
3. Install the buckle in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- Follow the Center Anchor Bolt Installation diagram carefully when assembling the washers and the collar on the center anchor bolt.
- Apply medium strength liquid thread lock to the center anchor bolt and the seat mounting bolts before reinstallation.
