Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Service and Repair) .
Caution: Refer to SIR Caution (SIR Caution) .
2. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling (Service and Repair) .
3. Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to Steering Wheel Inflatable Restraint Module Replacement (Service and Repair) .
4. Remove the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement (Steering Wheel Replacement) .
5. Remove the steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement (Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement) .
6. Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil. Refer to Steering Wheel Inflatable Restraint Module Coil Replacement (Service and Repair) .
7. Remove the theft deterrent exciter module. Refer to Theft Deterrent Module Replacement (Service and Repair) .




8. Insert the ignition key (2) into the ignition lock cylinder (3), and turn to the ON position.

Important: Insert a 2.5 mm pin (1) into the locking pin hole (4) to depress the spring loaded ignition lock cylinder locking latch in order to release the ignition lock cylinder from the ignition lock cylinder housing (5).


9. Release the ignition lock cylinder locking latch.
10. Remove the pin (1) from the locking pin hole (4).
11. Remove the ignition lock cylinder (3) and ignition key (2) assembly from the ignition lock cylinder housing (5).
12. Remove the ignition key (2) from the ignition lock cylinder (3).



Installation Procedure





1. Insert the ignition key (1) into the ignition lock cylinder (2) and turn to the ON position.

Important: The ignition lock cylinder latch must fully engage and lock into the ignition lock cylinder housing (3).


2. Install the ignition lock cylinder (2) and ignition key (1) assembly into the ignition lock cylinder housing (3).
3. Turn the key to the OFF lock position.
4. Remove the ignition key (1) from the ignition lock cylinder (2).
5. Install the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil. Refer toSteering Wheel Inflatable Restraint Module Coil Replacement (Service and Repair) .
6. Install the theft deterrent exciter module. Refer to Theft Deterrent Module Replacement (Service and Repair) .
7. Install the steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement (Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement) .
8. Install the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement (Steering Wheel Replacement) .
9. Install the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to Steering Wheel Inflatable Restraint Module Replacement (Service and Repair) .
10. Connect the battery ground cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Service and Repair) .
11. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling (Service and Repair) .
