Preliminary work for tyre pressure monitoring system (TPM) control unit
1. If a new control unit has to be installed, the values/coding must be read out using the 2nd generation PIWIS Tester 9818 prior to removing the "old" DME control unit. -> 443619 Removing and installing TPM transmitter (trigger) - section on "Removing" 443619 Installing and removing TPM transmitter (trigger).
2. Detach part of the rear side trim panel at the right. -> 700319 Removing and installing side trim panel for rear luggage compartment Service and Repair

Voltage peaks
- Risk of damage to load or to the control unit
-> Remove the ignition key and switch off load before disconnecting or removing load.
Installation position
1. Screw off the two fastening nuts -1-.

2. Pull the holder for the TPM control unit to one side. The third fastening nut can remain in place.
3. Unclip the TPM control unit from the holder at the bottom -A- and disengage it at the top -B-.

4. Release and unplug electric connector -a-.

Installing tyre pressure monitoring system (TPM) control unit
1. Plug in electric plug connection and lock the connector.
2. Engage the TPM control unit in the holder at the top -A- and clip it in at the bottom -B-.

3. Secure the holder with the two fastening nuts -1-. => Tightening torque: 9.7 Nm (7.5 ftlb.)

Subsequent work for TPM control unit
1. If the control unit was replaced, the "new" control unit must be adapted to suit the vehicle using the 2nd generation PIWIS Tester 9818. -> 443455 Replacing TPM control unit 443455 Replacing TPM control unit.
