Oil pressure tester "OP 85"





Preliminary work

WARNING

Toxic substances

-> Ventilate the work area well.
-> Never ingest or inhale.
-> Read specific information on the Hazard Sheet.
-> Wear personal protective gear.

-> Let the fluid cool down.
-> Wear personal protective gear.

WARNING

Highly inflammable or explosive materials

- Danger of fire or explosion

-> Avoid contact with hot parts or sources of ignition.
-> Use suction to remove ignitable vapors.
-> Attach warning sign in a clearly visible position.

Information

- Oil pressure may be too low for a number of reasons:

- Oil is diluted.

- Oil pump is faulty.

- Bearing clearance is too large (e.g. crankshaft bearing).

- Oil level is too low.

- Oil pressure-regulating valve is faulty.

- Incorrect oil has been used. Only use oil that has been approved by Porsche for the measurement.

- The oil-pressure sender is located on the oil-filter console to the left under the generator.

- When the oil-pressure sender is unscrewed, approx. 0.3 liters of engine oil will escape.

Collect emerging engine oil and dispose of it in accordance with the applicable national laws.

2. Use adapter insert 4 with a suitable sealing ring instead of the oil-pressure sender and tighten hand-tight.
3. Connect the test hose to the adapter insert.
4. Connect oil pressure tester "OP 85" to the test hose.

Information

- The oil temperature must be between 80 and 100 °C when measuring oil pressure.

- Check the oil temperature using a special thermometer or PST II tester.

5. Start the engine and rev to the required test speed. Read off the oil pressure on the oil pressure tester "OP 85".

- When the oil pressure tester "OP 85" is unscrewed, approx. 0.3 liters of engine oil will escape.

Collect emerging engine oil and dispose of it in accordance with the applicable national laws.

6. Remove oil pressure tester "OP 85" and test hose.
7. Screw in oil-pressure sender with a new sealing ring and tighten it. -> 170419 Removing and installing oil pressure switch on V6 DFI engines Service and Repair=> Tightening torque: 20 Nm (15 ftlb.)
