Oil Level Sensor: Service and Repair

Technical values





Preliminary work

1. Remove engine guard -> 108019 Removing and installing engine guard - section on "Removing" 108019 Removing and installing engine guard.

-> Ventilate the work area well.
-> Never ingest or inhale.
-> Read specific information on the Hazard Sheet.
-> Wear personal protective gear.

Highly inflammable or explosive materials

- Danger of fire or explosion

-> Avoid contact with hot parts or sources of ignition.
-> Use suction to remove ignitable vapours.
-> Attach warning sign in a clearly visible position.

Hot fluid

- Danger of scalding

-> Let the fluid cool down.
-> Wear personal protective gear.

1. Loosen oil drain plug -arrow- and collect engine oil in a container.
Dispose of waste oil in accordance with legal requirements.

2. Replace and tighten oil drain plug -arrow-.=> Tightening torque: 30 Nm (22 ftlb.)

3. Release connector on oil level sensor -a- and pull it off.

4. Loosen fastening screws -arrows- and pull the oil level sensor out of the oil pan.

Installing oil level sensor

1. Fit oil level sensor with a new seal. Tighten fastening screws -arrows-. => Tightening torque: 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.)

2. Slide on and engage connector.
3. Fill in engine oil and check engine-oil level -> 170101 Checking engine-oil level 170101 Checking engine-oil level on the instrument cluster.

Subsequent work

1. Mount engine guard -> 108019 Removing and installing engine guard - section on "Installing" 108019 Removing and installing engine guard.
