Water Outlet Replacement
Removal Procedure
Warning:

1. Ignition OFF.
Warning:

2. Disconnect the battery ground cable from the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Primary) Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Primary)Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Auxiliary) Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Auxiliary).
Warning
Under some conditions, the ethylene glycol engine coolant is combustible. In order to help avoid being burned, do not spill the antifreeze or the coolant on the exhaust system or the hot engine parts.
Warning
Dispose of the used engine coolant properly. Store the used coolant in a used coolant Holding Tank awaiting proper disposal or recycling. Do not pour used coolant down the drain. Ethylene glycol antifreeze is a very toxic chemical. Disposal into the sewer system or into the ground water is both environmentally irresponsible and illegal

3. Partly drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling Cooling System Draining and Filling.
4. Remove the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement.
5. Remove the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement Service and Repair.
6. Detach the radiator inlet hose. Refer to Radiator Inlet Hose Replacement (LFX) Radiator Inlet Hose Replacement.
7. Detach the coolant recovery reservoir hose from the housing. Refer to Coolant Recovery Reservoir Replacement Coolant Recovery Reservoir Replacement.
8. Detach the coolant air bleed hose. Refer to Engine Coolant Air Bleed Hose Replacement (V6) Engine Coolant Air Bleed Hose ReplacementEngine Coolant Air Bleed Hose Replacement (V8) Engine Coolant Air Bleed Hose Replacement.
Note:
Use of a soft pain hammer will aid in the removal of the water outlet housing.
9. Remove the water outlet housing (2) to cylinder head retaining bolts (1).
10. Remove the water outlet housing (2).
11. Discard the rubber O-ring and seal.
Installation Procedure
Note:
Ensure a new rubber O-ring and seal is used when installing the water outlet housing.
1. Install the water outlet housing (2) to the cylinder head.
Caution:
Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.
2. Install the water outlet housing (2) to the cylinder heads using the water outlet housing retaining bolts (1).
Tighten the bolts (1) to 10 Nm (89 lb in).
3. Attach the coolant air bleed hose. Refer to Engine Coolant Air Bleed Hose Replacement (V6) Engine Coolant Air Bleed Hose ReplacementEngine Coolant Air Bleed Hose Replacement (V8) Engine Coolant Air Bleed Hose Replacement.
4. Attach the coolant recovery reservoir hose to the housing. Refer to Coolant Recovery Reservoir Replacement Coolant Recovery Reservoir Replacement.
5. Attach the radiator inlet hose. Refer to Radiator Inlet Hose Replacement (LFX) Radiator Inlet Hose Replacement.
6. Install the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement Service and Repair.
7. Install the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement.
8. Connect the battery ground cable to the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Primary) Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Primary)Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Auxiliary) Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Auxiliary).
9. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling Cooling System Draining and Filling.
10. Inspect cooling system for leaks.
