Headlining Trim Panel Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the fuse from the passenger compartment fuse and relay panel assembly.
2. Remove the following components as required:
* Front seats-Refer to Front Seat Replacement - Bucket Front Seat Replacement - Bucket.
* Windshield side garnish, on both sides-Refer to Windshield Garnish Molding Replacement Windshield Garnish Molding Replacement.
* Trim panel - upper centre pillar, on both sides-Refer to Center Pillar Upper Trim Panel Replacement Center Pillar Upper Trim Panel Replacement.
* Sunshade assembly, on both sides-Refer to Sunshade Replacement Sunshade Replacement.
* Trim panel rear quarter on both sides-Refer to Quarter Upper Trim Panel Replacement (Long Wheelbase Sedan) Quarter Upper Trim Panel Replacement (Long Wheelbase Sedan).
* Dome lamp assembly-Refer to Dome Lamp Replacement Service and Repair.
* Reading lamp assembly-Refer to Reading Lamp Replacement Service and Repair.
3. Disconnect the rain sensor electrical connector (1).
Note:
Carry out this procedure for the remanding assist handles.
4. Pry open the assist handle (3) screw covers (1).
5. Remove the two retaining screws (2) and leave the assist handles attach the headliner.
6. Detach the headlining wiring harness retaining clips (1) located on the A-pillar inner panel (2).
7. Disconnect the headliner electrical connector (1), which is located under the defroster grill.
Note:
Removal and installation of the headliner requires the aid of an assistant, under no circumstances should it be removed or installed by one person.
8. Once all the components have been removed, disengage the rear retaining clips (1).
9. Remove the headliner assembly.
Note:
The headliner must be removed as shown above.
10. Remove the headlining (1) via the left side rear passenger door.
Installation Procedure
1. Carefully place headlining (1) into vehicle via left side rear passenger door, as per removal.
2. Carefully engage the headliner retaining clips (1).
3. Connect the headliner electrical connector (1).
4. Attach the headlining wiring harness retaining clips (1) to the A-pillar inner panel (2).
Caution:
Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.
Note:
Carry out this procedure for the remanding assist handles.
5. Install the assist handles (3) retaining TORX screws (2) and tighten to 2.0 Nm (18 lb in).
6. Close the retaining TORX screw covers (1).
7. Connect the rain sensor electrical connector (1).
8. Install the following components as per removal:
* Reading lamp assembly-Refer to Reading Lamp Replacement Service and Repair.
* Dome lamp assembly-Refer to Dome Lamp Replacement Service and Repair.
* Trim panel rear quarter on both sides-Refer to Quarter Upper Trim Panel Replacement (Long Wheelbase Sedan) Quarter Upper Trim Panel Replacement (Long Wheelbase Sedan).
* Sunshade assembly, on both sides-Refer to Sunshade Replacement Sunshade Replacement.
* Trim panel - upper centre pillar, on both sides-Refer to Center Pillar Upper Trim Panel Replacement Center Pillar Upper Trim Panel Replacement.
* Windshield side garnish, on both sides-Refer to Windshield Garnish Molding Replacement Windshield Garnish Molding Replacement.
* Front seats-Refer to Front Seat Replacement - Bucket Front Seat Replacement - Bucket.
9. Test all components removed for correct operation.
