Preliminary work

1. Raise the vehicle at the prescribed jacking points. -> 400000 Lifting the vehicle

4. Remove engine-compartment lid. -> 557819 Removing and installing engine compartment lid - section on "Removing"
5. Remove selector knob. -> 370419 Removing and installing selector knob - section on "Removing" 370419 Removing and installing selector knob

Removing selector lever cable

Loosening selector lever cable on automatic transmission

1. Lever selector cable off the ball pin and disengage from support bracket.

Detaching selector lever cable inside vehicle

1. Move selector lever to position P.
2. Open bayonet lock.

3. Detach adjustment pins.

4. Unclip support bracket at selector frame.

Removing selector lever cable

1. Unclip selector lever cable.

2. Pull end of selector lever cable - at transmission side - out through the opening in the engine compartment lid.

3. Remove support for selector lever cable.

4. Disengage selector lever cable from support.

5. Remove fastening nuts and pull selector lever cable into the interior of the vehicle.

1. Push selector lever cable through the bulkhead panel from the interior of the vehicle and fit fastening nuts.

2. Engage selector lever cable in support.

3. Fit support for selector lever cable.

4. Push end of selector lever cable - at transmission side - into the opening in the engine compartment lid.

5. Clip in selector lever cable.

1. Engage selector lever cable into support on transmission and press end piece onto ball head.

1. Clip in support bracket at selector frame.

5. Fit support plate. -> 421419 Removing and installing support plate - section on "Installing" 42141900 Removing and installing support plate
