CAUTION

Hot components

- Risk of burns

-> Let hot components cool down.
-> Wear personal protective gear.

1. Fit protective covers on and in the vehicle.
2. Remove rear wall cover. -> 555919 Removing and installing rear wall cover - section on "Removing" Service and Repair.
3. Remove engine compartment lid. -> 557819 Removing and installing engine compartment lid - section on "Removing" 557819 Removing and Installing Engine Compartment Lid.
4. Remove resonance tube. -> 247419 Removing and installing resonance tube - section on "Removing" Service and Repair.

Removing oil separator

Information

Specifications for wrench sizes (a/f specifications) for screw heads are described as follows:

- Torx screws: (E.) for external Torx, (T.) for internal Torx.

- Hexagon-head bolts (internal and external hexagon): Wrench size (a/f)

1. Remove positive crankcase ventilation line.
1.1. Release rapid-action coupling on positive crankcase ventilation line and pull it off at the cylinder head -arrow-.
1.2. Check O-ring on rapid-action coupling and replace it if necessary.
1.3. Unscrew external Torx screw (E10, M6 x 20) -1- at the connecting flange of the positive crankcase ventilation line.
1.4. Pull connecting flange out of the oil bracket. Replace O-rings.
1.5. Close off openings with stoppers or mask the openings.

2. Release and pull off cable plug for coolant temperature sensor.
3. Unscrew two external Torx screws (E10, M6 x 20) -3- on the oil separator -1-.
3.1. Pull off positive crankcase ventilation line -2- on the oil separator.

4. Remove oil separator.
4.1. Carefully press positive crankcase ventilation line aside and out of the work area.
4.2. Pull oil separator -1- up out of the oil bracket and remove it by pulling it towards the passenger compartment.
4.3. Clean connection points and seal with stoppers.
4.4. Replace O-rings.

Installing oil separator

Information

- Replace O-rings.

- Grease O-rings with a light coating of Kluber Syntheso Glep (Part No.: 000.043.204.68).

1. Remove all stoppers from the connection points.
1.1. Grease new O-rings.
2. Guide in oil separator -1- from inside the passenger compartment and fit it into the oil bracket.

3. Fit and tighten two external Torx screws (E10, M6 x 20) -3-.

3.1. => Tightening torque: 13 Nm (9.5 ftlb.)
3.2. Connect positive crankcase ventilation line -2- to the oil separator (locking sound).
3.3. Pull to check that the line is secure.
4. Connect cable plug for coolant temperature sensor.
5. Press flange of positive crankcase ventilation line into the bracket with new O-rings.
5.1. Fit and tighten external Torx screw (E10, M6 x 20) -1-.
=> Tightening torque: 13 Nm (9.5 ftlb.)
5.2. Connect positive crankcase ventilation line to the cylinder head -arrow-.

Subsequent work

1. Install resonance tube. -> 247419 Removing and installing resonance tube - section on "Installing" Service and Repair.
2. Install engine compartment lid. -> 557819 Removing and installing engine compartment lid - section on "Installing" 557819 Removing and Installing Engine Compartment Lid.
3. Install rear wall cover. -> 555919 Removing and installing rear wall cover - section on "Installing" Service and Repair.
4. Remove protective covers.
