Technical values





Preliminary work

1. Put on protective covers.
2. Remove fan frame. -> 192019 Removing and installing cooling fan housing (radiator frame) on DFI engines - section on "Removing" 192019 Removing and installing cooling fan housing (radiator frame) on DFI engines
3. Remove cowl for throttle body. -> 243519 Removing and installing air box for throttle housing on DFI engines (intake pipes upstream of throttle valve) - section on "Removing" Service and Repair
4. Mark rolling direction of drive belt with chalk and remove drive belt from the vibration balancer. -> 137819 Removing and installing drive belt on V6 DFI engines - section on "Removing" Service and Repair

CAUTION

Risk of damage!

- If the tool slips or if the tool is faulty, the wings can be damaged as a result of excessive force.

-> Ensure that the tool is seated correctly.

1. Block the vibration balancer using a brace T10069 and loosen the hexagon-head bolt (a/f 27).

2. Unscrew the hexagon-head bolt and remove the vibration balancer by pulling it forward.

Installing vibration balancer (crankshaft pulley)

Information

- A feather key is inserted into the crankshaft. When fitting the vibration balancer, make sure that the feather key slots into the groove in the vibration balancer.

- The feather key must not fall into the engine.

1. Install the vibration balancer.
1.1. Fit the vibration balancer at the crankshaft stub and press it on firmly.
1.2. The feather key -arrow- must secure the vibration balancer.
1.2.1. If necessary, turn the vibration balancer back and forth -arrows- until it is seated correctly on the crankshaft journal.

2. Always replace the hexagon-head bolt.

3. Block the vibration balancer using a brace and tighten the hexagon-head bolt (a/f 27) to the specified torque. => Initial tightening: 100 Nm (74 ftlb.) => Torque angle: 180°
3.1. Apply markings in order to get the exact torque angle.

3.2. Apply marking -2- on the hexagon-head bolt exactly opposite the marking -1- on the vibration balancer.
3.3. Turn the hexagon-head bolt 180 ° until the marking -2- is exactly opposite the marking -3-.

Subsequent work

1. Fit drive belt. -> 137819 Removing and installing drive belt on V6 DFI engines Service and Repair
