Pressing off centre bearing holder

10. Only for vehicles with PDCC:

CAUTION

Kinked or overstretched lines

- Leaks in the hydraulic system

-> Only lower anti-roll bar slightly and secure it to the chassis.

Loosen rear anti-roll bar.
10.1. Unscrew four fastening screws -1- on the anti-roll bar -2- at the rear axle carrier and lower the anti-roll bar until you have easy access to the two screws on the rear final drive -3-.

Loosening rear anti-roll bar

10.2. Secure the anti-roll bar at this position on the axle mount.
11. Unscrew fastening screw -1- on the rear axle carrier at the front. Always counter with a ring wrench.

Loosening rear final drive mounting

13. Tip up the drive flange -A-.

Raising front final drive

14. Get a second person to help you tip the final drive to the left -A- at the same time and lower it slowly -B-. Do not bend the drive shaft as far as it can go.

Lowering final drive

15. Remove final drive from the drive shaft at the rear right.
16. Fit a stopper on the opening on the drive shaft at the final drive.

Installing rear final drive

Information

- Screws that are tightened with a torque angle must be replaced with new ones.

Mounting for rear final drive

1. Place the final drive on a transmission jack with the help of another person and secure with a retaining strap. A second person is needed until => 5.
2. Remove stopper from the drive shaft flange at the right.
3. Fit final drive on the drive shaft at the right. -> 422119 Removing and installing rear drive shaft - section on "Installing" 422119 Removing and installing rear drive shaft
4. Align the final drive at the same time -A- and lower it slowly -B-. Do not bend the drive shaft as far as it can go.

Fitting final drive

5. Fit the final drive by gradually tipping the drive flange upwards -A-. Do not bend the drive shaft as far as it can go.

Fitting final drive

6. Tighten fastening screw on the rear axle carrier at the front to => Initial tightening: 90 Nm (67 ftlb.) => Final tightening: 90°. Always counter with a ring wrench.
