Seat belt rear, replacing

Warning! Under no circumstances use an ohmmeter or other live measuring instrument to take readings on a disconnected non-deployed seat belt tensioner. There is a risk that the seat belt tensioner could deploy.
Warning! The seat belt tensioner must never be taken apart, repaired or moved to another vehicle.

Seat belt rear (second row), replacing
Preparations
Move the seat as far forward as possible. Fold the backrest forward.
Disconnect the battery lead. See Battery, disconnecting Battery Disconnecting.

Removing the rear seat belt (second row)
Remove:
- the C-post panel. See Panel C-post, replacing Panel C-Post, Replacing
- the side panel. See Side panel cargo compartment, replacement Side Panel Cargo Compartment, Replacement
- one screw from the bracket for the seat belt (inertia) reel
- the bracket for the seat belt (inertia) reel by unhooking it
- the connector
- one screw from the upper mounting
- the end mounting. See End mounting, replacing End Mounting, Replacing.
Thread the seat belt out of the C-post panel.
Installing the rear seat belt (second row)
Note! For tightening torques, see [1][2]Body and Frame
Install:
- the seat belt reel and bracket
- the connector
- the bracket for the seat belt (inertia) reel by hooking it into place
- 1 M10 screw. Tighten
- the upper mounting
- 1 M10 screw for the upper mounting. Tighten.
Insert the seat belt through the C-post panel.
Install:
- the end mounting. See End mounting, replacing End Mounting, Replacing
- the side panel. See Side panel cargo compartment, replacement Side Panel Cargo Compartment, Replacement
- the C-post panel. See Panel C-post, replacing Panel C-Post, Replacing
Check the function of the seat belt. See Seat belt function, check Testing and Inspection.
Carry out a final inspection. See Supplementary restraint system (SRS), inspection Supplementary Restraint System (SRS), Inspection.
Seat belt rear center (second row), replacing
Preparations
Disconnect the battery lead. See Battery, disconnecting Battery Disconnecting.
Removing the center rear seat belt (second row)
Disconnect the connector under the seat.
Remove the center seat. See Upholstery backrest cushion center (second row), replacing Upholstery Backrest Cushion Center (Second Row), Replacing. Lift the seat from the car.
Remove:
- the upholstery from the backrest frame. See Upholstery backrest cushion center (second row), replacing Upholstery Backrest Cushion Center (Second Row), Replacing
- the three screws.
- the rear section from the backrest frame
- one screw for the end mounting
- one screw for the upper seat belt mounting
- one screw for the seat belt reel.
Disconnect the connector.
Remove the seat belt (inertia) reel.
Installing the center rear seat belt (second row)
Note! For tightening torques, see [1][2]Body and Frame
Install:
- the connector
- the seat belt reel
- 1 screw. Tighten. See [1][2]Body and Frame
- the upper seat belt anchorage
- 1 screw. Tighten. See [1][2]Body and Frame
- the end mounting
- 1 M10 screw. Tighten
- the rear section
- the 3 screws. Tighten
- the upholstery for the backrest frame. See Upholstery backrest cushion center (second row), replacing Upholstery Backrest Cushion Center (Second Row), Replacing.
Lift the seat into the car.
Install:
- the connector under the seat
- the center seat. See Upholstery backrest cushion center (second row), replacing Upholstery Backrest Cushion Center (Second Row), Replacing.
Check the function of the seat belt. See Seat belt function, check Testing and Inspection.
Carry out a final inspection. See Supplementary restraint system (SRS), inspection Supplementary Restraint System (SRS), Inspection.
Seat belt rear (third row), replacing
Preparations
Fold the backrest cushions up from the floor. Leave the seat cushions in place.
Remove the battery lead. See Battery, disconnecting Battery Disconnecting.

Removing seat belts (third row)
Hint: Bend the tip of a groove-cut chisel 90°. Release the catch for the end mounting using the chisel.
Remove:
- the outer load floor.
- the cover for the side panel.
- the seat belt cover in the D-post panel
- the end mounting. See End mounting, replacing End Mounting, Replacing
- one screw from the upper seat belt anchorage
- one screw from the mounting for the seat belt (inertia) reel.
Unhook from the seat belt reel.
Remove the connector for the SRS ignition cable.
Thread the seat belt through the hole at the D-post panel and out through the hole in the side panel.
Installing rear seat belts (third row)

Thread the seat belt through the hole in the side post panel and out through the hole in the D-post panel.
Connect the connector to the SRS ignition cable.
Hook onto the seat belt reel.
Install:
- 1 screw for the seat belt reel. Tighten. See [1][2]Body and Frame
- 1 M10 screw for the upper mounting. Tighten
- the end mounting. See End mounting, replacing End Mounting, Replacing
- the seat belt cover
- the cover for the side panel
- the outer load floor.
Check the function of the seat belt. See Seat belt function, check Testing and Inspection.
Carry out a final inspection. See Supplementary restraint system (SRS), inspection Supplementary Restraint System (SRS), Inspection.
