Instrument Cluster Description
The cluster assembly includes the following gauges:^ The speedometer/odometer
^ The tachometer
^ The fuel gauge
^ The engine coolant temperature gauge

The speedometer head is located in the cluster assembly. The speedometer head consists of a trip odometer and a total mileage odometer. The speedometer cable mechanically drives the speedometer and the odometer. A vehicle speed sensor is attached to the back of the speedometer head. The vehicle speed sensor provides the vehicle speed information to the ECM. The speedometer, trip odometer and the total mileage odometer are all serviceable from the cluster assembly.
IMPORTANT: When replacing a speedometer or an odometer assembly, the law requires the odometer reading of the replacement unit to be set to register the same mileage as the previous odometer. If the same mileage be set, then the law requires that the following actions take place:
^ Set the replacement odometer to zero.
^ Install a label on the driver's side door frame showing the following information:
^ The previous odometer reading
^ The date of replacement
The cluster includes the following indicators:
^ AIR BAG
^ ABS and ABS ACTIVE, if the vehicle is equipped with an antilock brake system
^ BRAKE
^ Charging system
^ Daytime Running System (DRL)
^ Fasten seat belt
^ High beam
^ Oil pressure
^ POWER and OD/OFF, if the vehicle is equipped with 4-speed A/T
^ SERVICE ENGINE SOON
^ Turn signals
^ 4WD, if equipped
The indicators are serviceable from the rear of the cluster assembly. Refer to Instrument Cluster Lamp Replacement for the cluster indicator procedure. The cluster assembly indicators may differ from model to model, depending on the options Service and Repair
