Carpet Replacement
Special Tools Required
- KTC trim tool set SOJATP2014*

SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations Locations and the precautions and procedures Service and Repair before doing repairs or service.
NOTE:
- Put on gloves to protect your hands.
- Take care not to damage, wrinkle or twist the carpet.
- Be careful not to damage the dashboard or other interior trim pieces.
- Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when removing components.
- When prying with a flat-tip screwdriver, wrap it with protective tape to prevent damage.
1. Remove these items:
- Front seats, both sides Front Seat Removal/Installation
- Rear seat cushion Rear Seat Removal/Installation
- Kick panels, both sides Interior Trim Removal/Installation - Front Door Sill Area
- B-pillar lower trim Interior Trim Removal/Installation - B-Pillar Upper/Lower Trim
- Driver's dashboard undercover Service and Repair
- Passenger's dashboard undercover Glove Box Damper Replacement
- Center console Center Console Removal/Installation
2. Remove these items:
- Steering joint cover Steering Column Removal and Installation
- Parking brake lever Service and Repair
- Driver's dashboard center lower cover Dashboard Center Lower Cover Removal/Installation
- Passenger's dashboard center lower cover Dashboard Center Lower Cover Removal/Installation
- M/T: Shift lever housing M/T Shift Lever Housing Replacement (M/T)
- A/T: Shift lever A/T Shift Lever Removal (A/T)
3. Release the hooks (A), then remove the accelerator pedal clip (B).
4. While pushing down the back-up spring (A), pull back the accelerator pedal (B) to release the hook (C).
5. Remove the footrest (A) by pulling it to detach the clips.
6. Disconnect the yaw rate-lateral acceleration sensor connector (A) and the USB adapter unit connector (B), and detach the wire harness clips (C). Remove the ground bolt (D) with a TORX T30 bit.
7. A/T: Remove the bolts, then remove the shift lever mount bracket (A).
8. Disconnect the SRS unit connector B, and detach the harness clips (A) fastening the floor wire harness (C).
9. Release the Velcro fastener (A), and release the carpet (B) from the hooks (C) of both rear heater ducts. Remove the clips (D). Detach the clips (E) fastening the carpet to both door sill areas.
NOTE: Replace the clips (E) with new ones.
10. Pull the carpet out from under the dashboard, then remove the carpet. Pull the seat harnesses (F) out through the holes in the carpet.
11. Release the hook (A) that is just under the arrow mark (B) on the floor mat holder (C) by prying the holder with a flat-tip screwdriver, and remove the holder through the slit (D) in the carpet (E).
12. Install the carpet in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- Take care not to damage, wrinkle or twist the carpet.
- Make sure the seat harnesses are routed correctly.
- Slip the holes in the carpet over the rear heater ducts.
- Make sure the connectors are plugged in properly.
- If the clips fastening the carpet to the floor are damaged or stress-whitened, replace them with new ones.
- Replace the clips fastening the carpet to both door sill areas with new ones.
- Push the Velcro fastener, the hooks, and the clips into place securely.
- If necessary, adjust the parking brake cable. Adjustments
- Push the accelerator pedal hooks into place securely, and verify that the pedal is properly fastened to the floor.
