Technical values





Preliminary work

WARNING

Hot fluid

- Danger of scalding

-> Let the fluid cool down.
-> Wear personal protective gear.

1. Drain coolant.
-> 193817 Draining and filling coolant Service and Repair.
2. Loosen three external Torx screws (E12, M8 x 12) on the hydraulic pump pulley (do not unscrew fully).
3. Release drive belt.
-> 137819 Removing and installing drive belt Service and Repair.
4. Remove resonance tube.
-> 247419 Removing and installing resonance tube Service and Repair.
5. Remove hydraulic pump pulley.
5.1. Unscrew three external Torx screws (E12, M8 x 12) and remove pulley.
6. Remove the generator.
-> 272219 Removing and installing generator Service and Repair.
7. Remove air conditioning compressor and set it aside.
-> 873419 Removing and installing air conditioning compressor Service and Repair.
8. Detach hydraulic pump for power steering and place it on the engine.
-> 489819 Removing and installing hydraulic pump - as of model year 2009 Service and Repair.

WARNING

Objects or loads falling down

- Risk of squashing or crushing

-> Secure components to prevent them from falling down.

9. Lower the engine and push it 30-40 mm to the rear.

10. Remove vibration damper.

Removing coolant distributor housing (unit carrier)

Information

Specifications for wrench sizes (a/f specifications) for screw heads are described as follows:

- Torx screws: (E.) for external Torx, (T.) for internal Torx.

- Hexagon-head bolts (internal and external hexagon): Wrench size (a/f)

Information

- Always replace O-rings.

- Moulded seals can be reused and are only replaced if damaged.

1. Remove coolant connection piece.

2. Remove lower coolant guide -3-.
2.1. Unscrew three external Torx screws (E10, M6 x 25) -1-.
2.2. Check moulded seals -4- for signs of damage and replace if necessary.

3. Detach bracket -1- for the coolant pump and belt tensioner at the front.
3.1. Turn the belt tensioner clockwise at the large hexagon and secure at the staking bore with an 8-mm bolt or screw -2-.
3.2. Unscrew two external Torx screws (E12, M8 x 50) -3-.
3.3. Unscrew one hexagon-head bolt (a/f 16, M10 x 65) -4-.
3.4. Unscrew one external Torx screw (E10) M6 x 20 -5- and one (E12) M8 x 25 -6-.

4. Unscrew three external Torx screws (E10, M6 x 25) -1- on the joining socket for the coolant regulator housing.

5. Press off and remove bracket on the back of the coolant connection piece and coolant pipe.
5.1. Replace O-rings on coolant connection piece and coolant pipe.
5.2. Replace the moulded seal -3- between the coolant regulator housing -1- and connecting tube -2-.

6. Remove coolant distributor housing (unit carrier).
6.1. Unscrew one external Torx screw (E12) M8 x 35 -1- and one M8 x 50 -2-.

6.2. Check moulded seals for signs of damage and replace if necessary.
6.3. Check dowel sleeve for signs of damage and replace if necessary.
7. Carefully clean the components and reused moulded seals.

Installing coolant distributor housing (unit carrier)

Information

- Grease O-rings, hoses and lines in the cooling system with Kluberplus Gel (Part No. 000.043.205.93).

1. Grease all moulded seals with a light coating of Kluber Plus Gel (Part No.: 000.043.205.93).
2. Fit coolant distributor housing (unit carrier) with moulded seals.
2.1. Centre the coolant distributor housing at the dowel sleeve and secure with two external Torx screws (E12) M8 x 35 -1- and M8 x 50 -2-.

3. Install bracket for the coolant pump and belt tensioner.
Be careful with the moulded seal -3- between the coolant regulator housing -1- and connecting tube -2- for the coolant pump (risk of severing!).

3.1. Fit screws by hand only.

3.2. Tighten three external Torx screws (E10, M6 x 25) on the joining socket for the coolant regulator housing.
4. Install coolant connection piece.

4.1. Fit screws by hand only.

5. Tighten fastening screws on the coolant distributor, coolant pump bracket and coolant connection piece according to specifications.
5.1. Screws on coolant distributor housing:
=> Tightening torque: 33 Nm (24 ftlb.)
5.2. Screws on coolant pump bracket:
=> Tightening torque: 13 Nm (9.5 ftlb.)
5.3. Screws on coolant connection piece with coolant distributor housing:
=> Tightening torque: 33 Nm (24 ftlb.)
6. Install coolant guide -3- at the bottom.
6.1. Fit moulded seals -4- and grease with Kluber Plus Gel.
6.2. Fit and tighten external Torx screws (E10, M6 x 25) -1-.
=> Tightening torque: 13 Nm (9.5 ftlb.)

Subsequent work

1. Install vibration damper.
-> 137519 Removing and installing vibration damper Service and Repair.

WARNING

Objects or loads falling down

- Risk of squashing or crushing

-> Secure components to prevent them from falling down.

2. Raise the engine to installation position and secure it.
-> 1001IN Lowering the engine to complete other work 1001IN Lower the engine to complete other work.
2.1. Do not secure the engine at its final position yet if necessary to allow better access for securing the components mentioned below.
3. Secure the hydraulic pump.
-> 489819 Removing and installing hydraulic pump - as of model year 2009 Service and Repair.
4. Secure the air conditioning compressor.
-> 873419 Removing and installing air conditioning compressor Service and Repair.
5. Install the generator.
-> 272219 Removing and installing generator Service and Repair.
6. Install pulley for hydraulic pump.
6.1. Fit three external Torx screws (E12, M8 x 12).
7. Tension the drive belt.
-> 137819 Removing and installing drive belt Service and Repair.
8. Secure pulley for hydraulic pump.
8.1. Tighten three external Torx screws (E10, M8 x 12) on the hydraulic pump pulley.
=> Tightening torque: 23 Nm (17 ftlb.)
9. Install resonance tube.
-> 247419 Removing and installing resonance tube Service and Repair.
10. Check intake-air distributor for leaks.
-> 244601 Checking intake-air distributor for leaks Testing and Inspection.
11. Bleed and fill the cooling circuit.
-> 193817 Draining and filling coolant Service and Repair.
