Removing headliner

Information

- Additional assembly operations must be performed on vehicles with sunroof or roof assembly. -> 708419 Removing and installing roof trim panel - "Removing" section

Information

Make sure that the roof cover does not buckle.

Information

Some of the repair illustrations show only one side of the vehicle. Naturally, some steps also have to be performed on the opposite side of the vehicle as well. These must be carried out as a mirror image of the steps shown.

1. Unscrew screws -1- for headliner under the roof console.

2. Unclip the headliner at the fixing clips close to the sliding-roof aperture (only on vehicles with a sunroof).

2.1. Check fixing clips on the headliner close to the sliding-roof aperture for deformation and replace if necessary.
3. Unscrew screws -2- on bracket for luggage compartment net cover at the D-pillar.

4. Loosen the headliner at the clips -3- at the rear of the body.

5. Fold over the rear seat backrest.
6. Move the driver and passenger seat all the way forward and down.
7. Move the driver and passenger seat backrest back as far as possible.
8. Three people are needed in order to remove the headliner.
8.1. Position of first person: Driver's side
8.2. Position of second person: Passenger's side
8.3. Position of third person: Luggage compartment
9. Remove headliner.
9.1. Lower the headliner -1- on the passenger's side down as far as possible -A-.
9.2. Pull the headliner -1- out towards the rear through the cut-out in the tailgate -B-.

Installing headliner

Information

Make sure that the roof cover does not buckle.

1. Guide in the headliner -1-.
1.1. Slide the headliner into the vehicle through the cut-out in the tailgate -B-.
1.2. Lower the headliner -1- on the passenger's side down as far as possible -A-.

2. Position the headliner on the roof of the vehicle and clip in the clips -3- in the rear by pressing them.

3. Check the fixing clips on the headliner close to the sliding-roof aperture for deformation and replace them if necessary.
4. Clip in the headliner close to the sliding-roof aperture with the fixing clips (only on vehicles with a sunroof).

5. Tighten screws on the bracket for the luggage compartment net cover -2- to => Tightening torque: 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.).

6. Screw in screws for the headliner under the roof console -1-.
